Form 990-EZ, the short return
For organizations with gross receipts under $200,000 and total assets under $500,000 at year end. It must be filed electronically for tax years ending on or after July 31, 2021.
What the form covers
- Part I: revenue, expenses, and the change in net assets for the year
- Part II: a simple balance sheet (beginning and end of year)
- Part III: your mission and program accomplishments
- Part IV: officers, directors, trustees, and key employees
- Parts V and VI plus schedules where they apply (public charity status, large contributors, and so on)
How we make it manageable
Each part is a short set of plain-language questions. Totals calculate automatically, and the balance sheet is checked against your revenue and expenses before you can submit, which is the most common reason 990-EZ returns are rejected.
What to have handy
Your year-end financial statements or bookkeeping totals, a list of officers and directors, and a sentence or two about what each program accomplished this year.
Cost
$79.99 per filing, charged only when you submit.
